How the Garmin Alpha® T 20 Works

The Alpha® T 20 is attached to the dog’s collar and paired with a compatible Garmin Alpha handheld device. The collar receives its position from satellites and transmits the information to the handheld device via VHF radio. The display allows you to monitor the dog’s location, direction of travel, route travelled, distance and other tracking information in real time.

Because the Alpha T 20 is a tracking collar, it does not include training features such as tone, vibration or electrical stimulation. It is an excellent choice for hunters who need reliable dog tracking without training functions.

Operating Costs

The Garmin Alpha® T 20 has no monthly or annual fees. Once the collar is paired with a compatible Garmin Alpha handheld device, standard tracking works without any separate subscriptions.

If desired, the separately sold Garmin Alpha® LTE tracking device can be attached to the collar. This allows the dog’s location to be transmitted via the LTE mobile network over virtually unlimited distances, but the LTE functionality requires a paid Garmin subscription. Standard VHF tracking has no recurring service fees.
