The Garmin Alpha® LTE is a lightweight dog tracking device that uses the LTE mobile network. It can complement the Garmin Alpha system or operate as a standalone tracker with the Alpha® mobile app. Thanks to LTE connectivity, the dog’s location can be tracked from virtually unlimited distances within mobile network coverage. The device can be used on its own or together with Garmin VHF dog collars, allowing tracking to continue automatically even if the VHF connection is lost. Use of the LTE service requires a Garmin subscription.

How Garmin Alpha® LTE Works

The Alpha® LTE attaches to the dog’s collar and connects to the Garmin Alpha app or a compatible Garmin Alpha system. When the Alpha LTE is used on its own, the dog’s location is transmitted via the LTE network directly to your smartphone.

When the device is paired with a Garmin VHF dog collar, VHF serves as the primary connection and LTE tracking is automatically activated if the dog moves beyond radio range. This allows the dog’s location to remain visible even during long chases and across large search areas. LTE connectivity works wherever a compatible mobile network is available.

Is a Monthly Subscription Required?

Yes. The Alpha® LTE uses the mobile network, so a Garmin LTE subscription is required. Without an active subscription, the device cannot transmit location information via the LTE network. The subscription is managed through the Garmin Alpha app and can be activated or cancelled as needed.
