Conibear® body-grip traps are so-called instant-kill traps, which, when triggered, cause the animal entering them to die immediately.
When placed on land or above water inside a protective housing, Conibear traps are permitted for catching mink, marten, polecat, weasel, and squirrel.
The suitable models for this purpose are 120-2, 120-2 SS, and 160-2.
In short:
-
120-2 – double-spring, made of steel.
-
120-2 SS – double-spring, made of stainless steel.
-
160-2 – larger than the two above, double-spring, made of steel.
When setting traps on land, in trees, or above water, they must be placed so that they do not pose a danger to people or to animals other than those being trapped.
By law, the traps must be placed inside a protective enclosure.
The entrance opening of the enclosure may not exceed 8 centimeters in diameter.
Conibear traps may be used underwater for hunting European beaver and Canadian beaver, as well as for trapping unprotected mammals.
In such cases, the trap’s jaw spread may not exceed 30 centimeters.
For beaver hunting, the 330-2 model must be used.
In short:
-
330-2 – double-spring, made of steel.
When setting the traps, setting tongs are recommended for your own safety.
By law, the traps must be maintained regularly.
Original Conibear® traps are popular worldwide.
